Temporary Permit Trucking Services
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are generally required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, produce their business as per the limits as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more details about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and kinds of transportation permits obtainable from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been issued since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can acquire them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are allowed to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks using this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are hauling loads of excessive size or weight above legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are obligated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be decreased in size. These permits are obtained upon written request from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are obtainable not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The specifics of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size need to be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also provided on the basis of axle size of the car, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes beyond the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight caps are then relied on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
