Washington Transportation Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are basically required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, act out their business as per the limits as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are demanded to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than just normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and varieties of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been issued since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can acquire them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks using this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are shipping loads of excessive size or weight over legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are required to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits can be obtained upon written application from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The specifics of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size have to be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the vehicle, as there are certain limits on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that surpasses the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restrictions are then relied on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.

A Wide load permit is required to be attained by pilot cars not exceeding 5,500 kg in gross vehicle weight, and are permitted for single commercial transportation when the length of load being transported exceeds 27.5 meter and width exceeds 3.2 meters. The pilot car needs to mount on its roof top a sign of Long Load, Wide Load or Oversize Load to warn other passing by vehicles. Oversize vehicles with loads of 3.2 meters width or under 3.5 meters width are exempted for this variety of transportation permit if they operate during daytime, but for wider loads this permit is vital.
