NC Oversize Permit Services
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, produce their business as per the constraints as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are required to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads beyond normal legal limits. You can get more relevant information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and kinds of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been released since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation activities for anywhere from one day to two weeks using this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are shipping loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are obligated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be minimized in size. These permits may be obtained upon written inquiry from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are offered not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The specifics of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also assigned on the basis of axle size of the automobile, as there are certain limitations on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that goes over the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight boundaries are then relied on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
