Image of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Overweight Truck Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be minimized in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more details about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits readily available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been provided since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can attain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are allowed to perform general transportation endeavors for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are hauling loads of excessive size or weight above legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are obligated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be reduced in size. These permits are obtained upon written application from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are obtainable not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The details of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size need to be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also assigned on the basis of axle size of the car, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need concerning this transportation permit. A load that exceeds the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then relied on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
