Arkansas Oversize Permits

The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are basically required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than just normal legal limits. You can get more related information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits readily available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been released since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can get them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are delivering loads of excessive size or weight above legal limits and are busy in operating transportation ventures on public highways are mandated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits can be obtained upon written inquiry from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are obtainable not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The specifics of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also given out on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that goes over the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restrictions are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
