The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are demanded to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more related information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been issued since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can attain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.
