The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more relevant information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been given out since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can attain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are allowed to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Oversize permits are also assigned on the basis of axle size of the auto, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that exceeds the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limits are then depended weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
