Connecticut Oversize Permit

Photo of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Trip Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, act out their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more relevant information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and kinds of transportation permits obtainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are hauling loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are obligated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits can be obtained upon written application from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are offered not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The details of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the car, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight boundaries are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
