The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are generally required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are demanded to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits have to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more related information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits readily available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been released since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can secure them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation activities for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are moving loads of excessive size or weight over legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are required to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be reduced in size. Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need concerning this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight caps are then depended weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
