The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, act out their business as per the constraints as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more related information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been provided since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks using this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are hauling loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are required to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be minimized in size. These permits may be obtained upon written request from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are also given out on the basis of axle size of the automobile, as there are certain limits on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that exceeds the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limits are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
