Image of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and GA Oversize Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are basically required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the constraints as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be minimized in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than just normal legal limits. You can get more facts about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and varieties of transportation permits available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been given out since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can get them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are transporting loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation ventures on public highways are needed to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits can be obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are provided not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. A load that exceeds the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restricts are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
