The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are generally required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the limits as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be minimized in their size and can not be transported other than by road are mandated to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads beyond normal legal limits. You can get more facts about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and sorts of transportation permits obtainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from one day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain regulations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the automobile, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes beyond the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then depended weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
