Photo of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Bus Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, produce their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more relevant information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been issued since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can attain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation ventures for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain regulations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are shipping loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are needed to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be decreased in size. These permits may be obtained upon written inquiry from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are obtainable not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The details of the commodity being transported along with reasons of non-reducible size should be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also provided on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes beyond the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight caps are then relied on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
