Nevada Oversize Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are generally required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are required to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads over normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and kinds of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can secure them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation activities for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain stipulations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are transporting loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are needed to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be decreased in size. These permits are obtained upon written inquiry from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are provided not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The specifics of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also released on the basis of axle size of the automobile, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limits are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.

A Wide load permit is required to be obtained by pilot cars not exceeding 5,500 kg in gross vehicle weight, and are allowed for single commercial transportation when the length of load being transported exceeds 27.5 meter and width exceeds 3.2 meters. The pilot car will need to mount on its roof top a sign of Long Load, Wide Load or Oversize Load to warn other passing by vehicles. Oversize vehicles with loads of 3.2 meters width or short of 3.5 meters width are exempted for this variety of transportation permit if they operate during daytime, but for wider loads this permit is mandatory.
