The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are generally required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits have to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more related information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can acquire them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restricts are then relied on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
