Photo of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Overweight Truck Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are generally required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be minimized in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads over normal legal limits. You can get more relevant information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and varieties of transportation permits available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can secure them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Oversize permits are also assigned on the basis of axle size of the car, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that surpasses the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight caps are then depended weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
