Image of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Dot Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, produce their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits have to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can attain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are allowed to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain restrictions to use this permit for commercial activities.

Oversize permits are also given out on the basis of axle size of the automobile, as there are certain limits on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes over the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
