Oklahoma Oversize Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the constraints as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are required to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more related information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits obtainable from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been provided since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can get them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from one day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are hauling loads of excessive size or weight over legal limits and are busy in operating transportation ventures on public highways are required to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be decreased in size. These permits can be obtained upon written request from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The particulars of the commodity being transported along with reasons of non-reducible size should be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the vehicle, as there are certain limitations on the load-per-axle to assess the need concerning this transportation permit. A load that exceeds the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight boundaries are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.

A Wide load permit is required to be secured by pilot cars not exceeding 5,500 kg in gross vehicle weight, and are authorized for single commercial transportation when the length of load being transported exceeds 27.5 meter and width exceeds 3.2 meters. The pilot car has to mount on its roof top a sign of Long Load, Wide Load or Oversize Load to warn other travelling by vehicles. Oversize vehicles with loads of 3.2 meters width or beneath 3.5 meters width are exempted for this form of transportation permit if they operate during daytime, but for wider loads this permit is required.
