One Trip Permits Services
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be minimized in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads beyond normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and types of transportation permits readily available from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can secure them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are shipping loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are mandated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be minimized in size. These permits can be obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are provided not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The particulars of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restrictions are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
