Oregon Wide Load Permit

Image of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Trip Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are ultimately required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, produce their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more details about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can get them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are transporting loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are obligated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be minimized in size. These permits can be obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The information of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also provided on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then depended weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
