Tennessee Oversize Permits

The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, act out their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are demanded to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads over normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been provided since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can secure them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from one day to two weeks using this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are transporting loads of excessive size or weight above legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are needed to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits are obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The information of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size have to be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also assigned on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain constraints on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that surpasses the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restrictions are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
