Trucking Permits Services

Wide Load Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the restrictions as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits have to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads over normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits readily available from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been issued since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can attain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are shipping loads of excessive size or weight above legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are required to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits are obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are obtainable not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The specifics of the commodity being transported coupled with reasons of non-reducible size must be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also released on the basis of axle size of the truck, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limits are then depended weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.
