The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the limits as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads over normal legal limits. You can get more details about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and forms of transportation permits provided from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been issued since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can secure them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation ventures for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are shipping loads of excessive size or weight over legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are needed to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be decreased in size. These permits are obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The particulars of the commodity being transported alongside reasons of non-reducible size will need to be provided with the application of the permit.

A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered to be over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restricts are then depended weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
