Washington Oversize Load Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the constraints as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be reduced in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads greater than normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and sorts of transportation permits readily available from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can acquire them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from one day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain regulations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are carrying loads of excessive size or weight over legal limits and are busy in operating transportation ventures on public highways are mandated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be minimized in size. These permits can be obtained upon written request from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but also for wider vehicles also. The information of the commodity being transported coupled with reasons of non-reducible size will need to be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the auto, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need of this transportation permit. A load that exceeds the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight restricts are then depended weight limits per-axle to become eligible for this permit.

A Wide load permit is required to be obtained by pilot cars not exceeding 5,500 kg in gross vehicle weight, and are permitted for single commercial transportation when the length of load being transported exceeds 27.5 meter and width exceeds 3.2 meters. The pilot car will need to mount on its roof top a sign of Long Load, Wide Load or Oversize Load to warn other passing by vehicles. Oversize vehicles with loads of 3.2 meters width or below 3.5 meters width are exempted for this type of transportation permit if they operate during daylight, but for wider loads this permit is mandatory.
