The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are basically required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, execute their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lessened in their size and can not be transported other than by road are needed to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits should be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than normal legal limits. You can get more facts about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and varieties of transportation permits provided from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been given out since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated time period, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are permitted to perform general transportation tasks for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

Oversize permits are also provided on the basis of axle size of the auto, as there are certain limitations on the load-per-axle to assess the need concerning this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, as opposed to considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
