West Virginia Wide Load Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads associateded with commercial trucking services are basically required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be lowered in their size and can not be transported other than by road are demanded to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits will need to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads more than just normal legal limits. You can get more details about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and sorts of transportation permits obtainable from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can get them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are allowed to perform general transportation ventures for anywhere from one day to two weeks using this permit, but there are certain regulations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are carrying loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation ventures on public highways are mandated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits may be obtained upon written inquiry from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are offered not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The particulars of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size should be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also given out on the basis of axle size of the automobile, as there are certain limits on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that surpasses the limit per-axle is considered as over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight caps are then relied on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.

A Wide load permit is required to be received by pilot cars not exceeding 5,500 kg in gross vehicle weight, and are permitted for single commercial transportation when the length of load being transported exceeds 27.5 meter and width exceeds 3.2 meters. The pilot car needs to mount on its roof top a sign of Long Load, Wide Load or Oversize Load to warn other travelling by vehicles.
