Picture of On the Go Transportation [Major] [Minor] and Wide Load Permits
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads connecteded with commercial trucking services are basically required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, perform their business as per the limitations as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be decreased in their size and can not be transported other than by road are asked to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits have to be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization involved in commercial trucking services if they transport loads over normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and varieties of transportation permits attainable from your local department of transportation.

Temporary operation permits have been given out since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are allowed to perform general transportation projects for anywhere from 1 day to two weeks through this permit, but there are certain constraints to use this permit for commercial activities.

[Minor] – [Major] On The Go Transportation

Vehicles and trucks that are delivering loads of excessive size or weight over legal limits and are busy in operating transportation tasks on public highways are mandated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be lowered in size. These permits are obtained upon written application from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are available not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The particulars of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size need to be provided with the application of the permit.

Oversize permits are also released on the basis of axle size of the car, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need of the transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, instead of considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then relied on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.
