Wisconsin Wide Load Permit
The heavy-duty vehicles and loads involved in commercial trucking services are essentially required to, under the Act 300 of Michigan Vehicle Code (MVC) of Public Acts of 1949, produce their business as per the limits as established by this Act. The vehicles and loads that can not be minimized in their size and can not be transported other than by road are mandated to obtain permits from the reigon’s local Department of Transportation (DOT). All transportation permits must be obtained from State Transport Authorities by any individual or organization associateded with commercial trucking services if they transport loads beyond normal legal limits. You can get more information about the legally-permitted sizes of vehicles and varieties of transportation permits available from your local department of transportation.
Temporary operation permits have been circulated since 1992. If a business only needs a permit to operate over a designated period of time, Temporary Testing, Demonstration, and Temporary Operation Permits may be required. You can obtain them from all the outlets of Auto plan and any government inspection stations (weigh scales). You are enabled to perform general transportation activities for anywhere from one day to two weeks with this permit, but there are certain limitations to use this permit for commercial activities.

Vehicles and trucks that are delivering loads of excessive size or weight beyond legal limits and are busy in operating transportation activities on public highways are mandated to obtain oversize permits when their loads that can not be minimized in size. These permits can be obtained upon written appeal from the Commercial Transport section of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Branch. Oversize permits are offered not only for the vehicles or loads that are 4.4 meters wide, but for wider vehicles also. The particulars of the commodity being transported in addition to reasons of non-reducible size have to be provided with the application of this permit.

Oversize permits are also issued on the basis of axle size of the auto, as there are certain restrictions on the load-per-axle to assess the need concerning this transportation permit. A load that goes above the limit per-axle is considered as being over-weighted or oversized, rather than considering the overall weight of the load. Suppose your commercial vehicle transports construction machinery, pre-built homes, construction materials, or containers. It’s weight limitations are then calculated on weight limits per-axle to be eligible for this permit.

A Wide load permit is required to be attained by pilot cars not exceeding 5,500 kg in gross vehicle weight, and are allowed for single commercial transportation when the length of load being transported exceeds 27.5 meter and width exceeds 3.2 meters. The pilot car needs to mount on its roof top a sign of Long Load, Wide Load or Oversize Load to warn other travelling by vehicles. Oversize vehicles with loads of 3.2 meters width or below 3.5 meters width are exempted for this type of transportation permit if they operate during daylight, but for wider loads this permit is vital.
